As part of your professional responsibilities, it is imperative that everyone at HOPECFI possess a thorough understanding of safeguarding principles, including the ability to recognise the signs and symptoms of various forms of abuse and neglect. This knowledge is crucial to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children under our care.

At HOPECFI, all staff must be able to identify the various forms of abuse, including, but not limited to, Emotional Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Physical Abuse, Neglect, Domestic Abuse, Radicalisation, Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Breast Ironing, Forced Marriage, Witchcraft, Child Trafficking, Bullying, Online Abuse, and Criminal Exploitation, which may include Serious and Violent Crimes, Gang Exploitation, Grooming, and Fabricated Illnesses. Additionally, you must be alert to Child-on-Child Abuse and School-age Pregnancy, which may indicate vulnerability or potential involvement in Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE). It is essential that you recognise these forms of abuse and take prompt, appropriate action to safeguard children from harm. Moreover, you must be thoroughly familiar with the established procedures for reporting any concerns regarding a child’s welfare. This ensures that safeguarding issues are escalated to the relevant authorities including reporting to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) a timely manner, in accordance with HOPECF's protocols and legal requirements.

In addition to safeguarding responsibilities, you are expected to promote and uphold the core British Values within the context of your role at HOPECFI. These values are fundamental to creating a democratic and inclusive society, and play an integral part in shaping a positive, respectful environment for children and young people.
