OUR CURRICULUM
Our curriculum is carefully crafted to be balanced, flexible, and enriching, tailored to meet the unique needs of every individual child. We take into account their potentials, age, abilities, needs, and interests. Through a diverse range of activities, we aim to challenge children's learning and inspire them to achieve success in life. Our ambition for children with SEND is as simple as A, B, C: to support their growth and development at every step.
Children want to Achieve, Believe and be Confident.
OUR LEARNING OFFER
At HOPECFI, children receive comprehensive support in various areas. In Mathematics, they delve into fundamental principles such as counting, shapes, space, and measurements. Our Literacy program encourages exploration in reading, writing, and language and communication skills, emphasizing listening, attention, speaking, and understanding. Additionally, children engage with Information Technology and express themselves through art, including dance and music. We also ensure access to specialised professionals to support their overall development.
We enrich our curriculum through a variety of private interventions and agencies, such as:
Additionally, we collaborate with Government health and education services, including SENIT, STARTs, physiotherapists, SaLTs, pediatricians, Health Visitors (HV), and occupational therapists. Together, these resources contribute to a holistic approach to support the diverse needs of our children.
Our activities encompass a wide range of experiences, including:
These diverse activities offer opportunities for children to explore various interests and engage in hands-on learning experiences.
With ambitious goals and appropriate assistance, numerous children can aspire to attain successful long-term outcomes in their adult lives. A child or young person is considered to have Special Educational Needs (SEN) if they possess a learning difficulty or disability that necessitates special educational provision to enable them to reach their maximum potential.
Currently, we are unable to accommodate children who require medication or treatment administered by a medical professional, such as a nurse, as we do not have an onsite medical team, unless provided by the NHS. However, this exclusion does not apply to children who require the use of an Epipen, Inhaler, Epilepsy Medications or Tube Feeding.
We complete personalised medication training including Paediatrics First Aid Training, Epipen and Epilespy.
A child of compulsory school age or a young person is considered to have a learning difficulty or disability if they meet one of the following criteria:
The Local Offer is a comprehensive resource provided by the Local Authority, consolidating information about the provision they anticipate being available across education, health, and social care for children and young people in their area who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) or are disabled. This includes individuals who do not have Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plans.
The Local Offer outlines the services and support that families can expect to access. For further details on the available services, please visit www.leedslocaloffer.org.uk
What is an Education, Health and Care Plan?
An Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) is a legally binding document designed for an individual child or young person with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). It provides a detailed description of their educational, health, and social care needs, as well as the specific provision required to support them in achieving key life outcomes. Additionally, the EHCP includes information about the child or young person's aspirations. For those in Year 9 or above, it also outlines preparations for adulthood.
We assist children in recognising their aspirations, fostering friendships, and reaching their full potential as they engage in play and development.
4 to 5 year olds
For children aged 4 and 5, we adhere to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, emphasising the three Prime Areas of Learning and Development: Communication and Language Development, Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, and Physical Development.
Over 5 year olds
Children aged 5 and older are immersed in the National Curriculum's core subjects, including English, Computing, Mathematics, and Science.
Our learning approach is personalised to accommodate each child's unique needs and capacities. We nurture independence, encourage various forms of self-expression, and prepare all children for live within a nurturing environment where respect and love prevail, regardless of their needs or abilities.
